Twelve Days of Christmas Ornaments – Day Five – Japan

Five Golden Geisha Dolls!!!  Here to you, Day Five.  Or should I say, Japan?

Japan is a country we had full intention on visiting during our RTW (Round The World) journey.  Unfortunately, the 2011 tsunami hit exactly a week before we were to land and we were forced to cancel that leg of the trip.  Such tragedy to the country and a lost opportunity to visit such a wonderful country.  The girls have not let me forget that I haven’t taken them to the “Land of the Rising Sun.”

The ornament was bought on a trip to Japan that Cindy and I went on for our tenth year anniversary.  A whirlwind week to explore Tokyo and Kyoto.  This ornament of a Geisha is particularly funny since I followed a few Geisha around Kyoto, taking pictures like a crazed paparazzi.  Cindy came to grips with her husband running off taking pictures of other women by imagining they were Minnie Mouse at a Disney park.  And if you think about it for a second, they really are the cultural equivalent.
